Murphy, 27, was born with deformed feet, and at the age of four his birth defect forced doctors to amputate them. Doctors told the family that he never would be able to take care of itself, but from time to time he proved them wrong.

Now a motivational speaker, Murphy, came to the three villages to give a speech to all wrestlers in grades kindergarten through 12 and their families at Ward Melville High School on Tuesday November 15th. Free event is sponsored by the Booster Club and the Patriots wrestling will take place from 6-8 pm at the gymnasium.

Murphy refused to use disability as an excuse, and began wrestling in high school freshman wrestling team in East Islip. He then continued his career at Penn State University. He participated in the Paralympics weightlifting event and in 2006 won the bronze medal at the IPC Powerlifting World Championships.

Murphy's achievements gained media attention and she has been featured in publications such as NBC News, ABC News ' 20/20, Sports Illustrated and Newsday. He also appears in the campaign "no reason" Nike, which is meant to motivate people to make working out plans and living a healthy lifestyle.
